A new 221-room hotel will soon be built in the bustling heart of Antwerp, on the spacious Oever and Scheldeken square. A residential care campus currently stands on this site, but it will make way for a beautiful new building designed by Binst Architects. Construction work is expected to start at the end of this year, after the relocation of the residential care centre. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2024.
This project is a collaboration between Cores Development and the well-known German hotel chain Motel One. The group already operates 75 hotels in several European countries.
The new hotel will rise on the square Oever and Scheldeken, an ideal location for future hotel guests, with the shopping street to the south and the renovated quays nearby. The city centre's spatial implementation plan ensures the historic atmosphere and harmony of the neighbourhood.
The current residential care centre will make way for a contemporary building, designed by Antwerp-based Binst Architects, that fits in perfectly with the quiet and historic character of the neighbourhood. The 221 hotel rooms will be divided between two buildings connected underground and via a courtyard.
