The added value of Kanvazz wall finishes for your hotel project

Textile woven wallcoverings have never quite gone away. Even in the hospitality sector, we see that wallcoverings are increasingly being chosen to bring a cosy, warm atmosphere to rooms. Kanvazz is the brand of room-high and seamless textile wallcoverings. It is 100 per cent Belgian, is made from Jacquard woven textiles and can be used hospitality-wide: in rooms, in corridors, in the breakfast area, the restaurant, and so on.

SLOTS PURETextiles is a family-run business from Vichte in West Flanders. You can go there as a hotelier for table, bed, bath and kitchen linen, for mattresses and, since 2019, for a stunning collection of wallcoverings called Kanvazz. "Hotel and table linen are textile products. The step to decorative wall coverings in textiles was logical," says business manager Johan Slots. "We chose the Jacquard weaving technique at Kanvazz. This allows high quality and unique patterns, but also has many other advantages."

Kanvazz may remind you of canvas painting canvases, yet its collection of textile wallcoverings is far from that. They are perfectly finished products, woven into a seamless wall covering on 2.95-metre-wide rolls. "That means you work at room height in one smooth move. You have no seams with Kanvazz. It is a completely shrink-proof and stable product, which is also easy to install. In all projects, Kanvazz allows you to work faster and more efficiently."

Wallcoverings are hot and are once again experiencing strong growth. Yet hotel and hospitality settings attach importance to different properties than private individuals. Kanvazz, for instance, is certified to the highest safety, fire and quality standards. "Moreover, it is incredibly easy to maintain," Johan explains. "The product was treated with Teflon®EcoElite, which makes it water-repellent and makes it easy to remove any stains. Kanvazz has high UV resistance and does not discolour. The wallcovering is scratch- and impact-resistant. You may scratch it with a key or bump into it with your suitcase, the wall covering will not show any damage."

The special weaving technique makes Kanvazz extremely strong and gives the wallcoverings acoustic properties, without sacrificing elegance. There are two groups of collections offering a mix of designs. Whereas Kanvazz Unlimited tends to respond to current trends, Kanvazz Timeless offers a wide range of contemporary and traditional designs in a wide colour palette. Personalised designs are also possible.

The family-run business places great importance on sustainability. This is true for their damask hotel and table linen, but also for Kanvazz. For instance, all production takes place in Belgium and they work with Western European suppliers for the processing of raw materials. Eighty percent of renewable energy is generated via solar panels and with controlled energy management via a heat exchanger, LED lighting, completely separated waste streams and integrated water treatment, the company is working in an increasingly environmentally friendly way.

"A lot of hotels have had Kanvazz hanging on their walls for many years. It lasts longer than traditional wall coverings. The footprint of Kanvazz is kept as minimal as possible and is sustainable in the long term," Johan adds.
