Those who visit a B&B or a unique boutique hotel like to be pampered by little things that are slightly different from what they are used to. The Clarysse family business has roots in textiles and offers bath, bed and kitchen textiles of superior quality. Growing out of a local weaving mill, they are building the brand from their expertise in full today. They mainly focus on the luxury segment of the hospitality sector.
The soft, stylish fabrics radiate opulence and give a cosy feeling. These are typical quality characteristics with which Clarysse profiles itself on the market. They target B&Bs and boutique hotels with an eye for detail, durability and a personal welcome. The luxury textile products fit into environments that put comfort and well-being at the centre. The company is committed to researching the strength and durability of fabrics.
Textiles are a noble product. Kevin Volon, commercial director, says: "The quality of a fabric is in the strength of the yarn and the manufacturing process. For bath linens, we strive for a balance between thickness and absorbency. We finish all our products with double stitching. Bedding needs to breathe: too heavy can feel stuffy, too light feels less luxurious." The tactility that makes the fabrics so special does not change, even after frequent use.
Clarysse opts for stable collections with timeless and stylish colours. This is not without reason: they create tranquillity and last a long time. "Quality textiles don't wear out quickly, so it's better not to choose a design trend that quickly becomes obsolete again. We also keep our collection stable for as long as possible, so that a hotelier can order a replacement or extension in the same colour afterwards," says sales manager Hilde Debal.
Clarysse is constantly looking for sustainable solutions without sacrificing quality. They follow evolutions closely. Kevin: "Our Florence collection is top quality: one hundred per cent organic from GOTS cotton, one of the highest certifications in terms of sustainability. Hotel chains usually wash with bleach. Our towels are not bleached and are not washed with bleach. Small-scale hotels do their own laundry. They are more sensitive to sustainability and so is their audience. For the Luna collection, we have the Global Recycle Standard certification. This towel consists of 67 per cent recycled cotton and 33 per cent recycled polyester from PET bottles. It is our most eco-friendly towel. Yet the average customer in Belgium doesn't seem ready for it. In the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries, that evolution is faster. Despite a more expensive production process, we offer this range at a similar price compared to the other collections."
The Gordon kitchen towels (80 by 80 centimetres) are made of Egyptian cotton and are particularly popular. "The long fibre absorbs moisture quickly, which is practical in restaurant kitchens," Hilde explains. Hoteliers can personalise details of the bath collection with embroidery of the logo. For bedding, there are choices for cuffs, closure and size.
Wellness centres and spas that want to pamper their customers appreciate stylish bath collections. "We like to display our products there. That gives customers a chance to take home a good feeling," Kevin adds.
Clarysse is a well-known player in the Belgian market. Its rebranding strategy for the luxury segment is in full swing. In autumn, they can be found at the Horeca Expo in Ghent. Although luxury hospitality reaches a more limited audience, the number of potential buyers remains large. "The Belgian market knows us, we now want to raise our international profile step by step," says Kevin. "Clarysse is part of the international group Love Home Fabrics. "It is a large group with which we work directly and which covers almost every kind of interior textile. That's interesting for large investments or for start-up B&Bs."
