Chef Jeroen Achtien does it again
Restaurant Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen received no less than two Michelin stars at the Michelin Awards ceremony in Maastricht. Chef Jeroen Achtien's achievement puts the iconic restaurant back on the map as a top destination for foodies. Receiving two stars in such a short time is unique within the Michelin guide: Achtien and his team managed to achieve this milestone in less than a year after the reopening November 2023.

A year ago, Jeroen and Sanne Achtien took over Inter Scaldes from Jannis and Claudia Brevet. The young couple set themselves the goal of maintaining the level. "Although the restaurant has a rich culinary history, for ourselves we just started again without stars," says Achtien. "To go to two stars in one go - and then also within a year of opening - is incredible recognition for our work." After Achtien's success in Switzerland, where he led Sens Restaurant to two stars within three years, the chef is now proving that he is among the culinary top in the Netherlands too. This makes Inter Scaldes, which has been part of the Pillows Hotels collection since January 2023, the first restaurant with Michelin stars.
