Cost savings through integrated approach to hotel linen

A linen management system in hotels can be crucial for efficiently managing all hotel textiles. These include bedding, towels and table linen. Acuity, launched by ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions, is a digital linen management platform that uses data analytics to help wash, dry, iron, store and distribute hotel linen in an organised manner. 

The pioneering Acuity solution, with real-time tracking of every linen item, radically changes the way hoteliers manage their laundry and linen operations. Developed using ASSA ABLOY Group's technology expertise, it replaces time-consuming and error-prone manual processes. It does so using automation and enhanced insights through far-reaching data analysis. This optimises efficiency and guest satisfaction while minimising costs.

This allows hotel staff to instantly and easily view current stock levels, including cleaned items returned for use. The same applies to soiled items sent for cleaning or already washed. The system determines the correct stock levels and alerts as soon as the stock of hotel linen is in danger of falling below the required quantity. Reporting on the number of washing cycles is not a problem either."

Acuity can simultaneously track and monitor the status of multiple linen items. This is done using small Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags, which can withstand countless washing and drying cycles. This immediately identifies each individual item and determines its real-time status. This leads to significant time savings for employees and improves the accuracy of reports. 

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions' linen management system includes several crucial features to increase efficiency and guest satisfaction. "Firstly, automatic tracking ensures a perfect real-time linen inventory, accurately tracking what is available and what needs to go to the laundry," Jeroen continues. "This is complemented by lifecycle management, which monitors the lifespan of each linen item to determine when it needs to be replaced. During the development of Acuity, we naturally also thought about cost control. By analysing the cost per wash and the lifetime cost of linen, budget overviews are improved. Finally, the management system supports some sustainability goals because the linen is 100 per cent optimised, which helps minimise waste."
